Add a text watermark to a PDF
Add watermark places a line of text, such as CONFIDENTIAL, DRAFT, or COPY, across every page of a PDF. Watermarks show the status of a document at a glance and discourage it from being passed off as a final version.
Your files are processed inside this browser tab and are not uploaded to Maher PDF. Please read the Privacy Policy before working with sensitive documents.
You can set the text, how transparent it is, the angle, and the size, and the thumbnails preview the result before you save.
How to use Add watermark
- Tap Choose a PDF and select your document.
- Type the watermark text.
- Adjust opacity (0.05 is very faint, 1 is solid), angle in degrees, and size.
- Tap Run to download the watermarked PDF.
Key features

- Applied to every page.
- Preview on page thumbnails.
Supported files
Input: one PDF. Output: the PDF with the watermark drawn on each page in bold Helvetica.
Privacy and security
The watermark is added in your browser without uploading the document.
Common problems
- The watermark hides important content.
- Lower the opacity to around 0.15 to 0.25 so text underneath stays readable.
Tips
- A watermark is a visible label, not protection. Combine it with Protect PDF if the file must stay private.
Frequently asked questions
Can someone remove the watermark?
A determined person with PDF editing software can remove or cover text watermarks. Treat it as a clear label, not a security measure.
