Privacy Policy
This policy explains what happens to your files and information when you use maherpdf.com. The short version: the PDF tools process your files inside your own browser, Maher PDF does not receive or store your documents, and the site shows advertising from Google, which uses cookies.
Who runs this website
Maher PDF (maherpdf.com) is operated by an individual developer, referred to here as "Maher PDF", "we" or "us". You can reach us at info@maherpdf.com or support@maherpdf.com.
Your files
How files are processed
All 24 PDF tools run as JavaScript code inside your browser tab. When you choose a file, your browser reads it from your device into the tab's memory, the tool processes it there, and the result is saved to your device through your browser's normal download. The content of your files is not uploaded to Maher PDF's servers or to any other server by these tools.
Storage and deletion
Because files are not uploaded, Maher PDF does not store, view, or keep copies of them, and there is nothing for us to delete. While a tool is open, your file exists only in the memory of your browser tab; it is released when you close that tool task, close the tab, or reload the page. Files you download (the results) remain on your device until you delete them, and are under your control.
Optional OCR feature
Some tools can read text from scanned pages using optical character recognition (OCR): the OCR button in Edit PDF, and the automatic OCR in PDF to Word and PDF to Excel for pages that contain no text. The first time OCR is used in your browser, it downloads the open-source Tesseract.js recognition engine and English language data from public content delivery servers (such as cdn.jsdelivr.net). Those servers receive a normal web request from your browser, which includes your IP address and browser information, as with any website visit. Your document and its contents are not sent; the recognition itself runs on your device.
Information collected when you visit
Hosting
The website is hosted by Netlify. Like every web host, Netlify's servers process technical information needed to deliver pages, such as your IP address, browser type, the pages requested, and the time of the request, and may keep it in server logs for security and operations. We do not use these logs to identify individual visitors.
Analytics
Maher PDF does not currently run its own analytics or visitor-tracking software. If this changes, this policy will be updated before it happens.
Contact form and email
If you use the contact form or email us, we receive the information you provide (such as your name, email address, and message). Form submissions are processed and stored by Netlify Forms on our behalf. We use this information only to reply to you and to improve the service, and we delete messages when they are no longer needed. Please don't send confidential documents.
Information stored in your browser
To make the site load quickly and work offline, your browser stores a copy of the website's code and pages using a service worker cache. This contains the website itself, not your documents. You can remove it by clearing site data for maherpdf.com in your browser settings.
Advertising: Google AdSense
Maher PDF uses Google AdSense to show advertising, which pays for the free service. Google, as a third-party vendor, uses cookies and similar technologies to serve ads on this site. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the internet.
- You can opt out of personalised advertising in Google Ads Settings, or opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalised advertising at www.aboutads.info.
- Learn how Google uses information from sites that use its services at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
- Where required by law (for example for visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland), consent for personalised ads is requested through a Google-certified consent message before personalised advertising is shown.
Advertising scripts run in the page but cannot read files you open in a tool, because those files are not part of the page content sent anywhere. See the Cookie Policy for more on cookies.
Third-party services
- Netlify: website hosting and contact form processing.
- Cloudflare: domain registration and DNS for maherpdf.com.
- Google AdSense: advertising.
- jsDelivr and the Tesseract.js project's data hosts: delivery of the OCR engine, only when you use OCR.
- Ko-fi: optional donations. If you choose to donate, you leave maherpdf.com and Ko-fi's own privacy policy applies.
Each of these providers has its own privacy policy that governs the data it processes.
Security
The site is served only over HTTPS. Processing files locally means your documents are not exposed to transfer or storage on our servers. No website or device can be guaranteed completely secure, however: the safety of your files also depends on your device, your browser, extensions you have installed, and where you save the results. Use an up-to-date browser and be careful with browser extensions that can read page content.
Children
Maher PDF is a general-purpose tool and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or object to the processing of personal information we hold about you, such as contact messages. Because we don't receive your files and don't run our own analytics, the information we hold is usually limited to messages you've sent us. To exercise your rights, email info@maherpdf.com. For advertising data, use the Google controls listed above. You may also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.
Changes to this policy
If we change how the site handles information, we'll update this page and the "Last updated" date above. Significant changes will be noted on the home page.
