About Maher PDF
Maher PDF is a free set of PDF tools that run in your web browser. It exists to make everyday document work quick and private, without accounts or uploads.
Why it was built
Maher PDF was built by Maher, a quality-control inspector working in the UAE construction and oil and gas sector. The job involves a constant stream of PDFs: inspection reports, test certificates, drawings, method statements, and submittals that need to be merged, split, signed, converted, and emailed, often from a phone on site.
Most online tools meant uploading those documents to someone else's server just to merge two files or shrink a scan. What started as a personal toolkit to avoid that became a public site that anyone can use for free.
What it does
There are 24 tools in six groups: organizing pages (merge, split, reorder, scan), optimizing (compress, repair), protecting (add or remove a password), converting to PDF, converting from PDF (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, JPG), and editing (text, signatures, markup, page numbers, watermarks, rotation, cropping).
How it's designed
- Easy to use. Each tool does one job with as few steps as possible, and each has a guide page explaining the steps and the limits.
- Privacy focused. Processing happens inside your browser tab. Files are not uploaded to Maher PDF. The Privacy Policy describes exactly what does use the network.
- Mobile first. Many people deal with documents on a phone, so the tools work on Android and iPhone, including camera scanning. Maher PDF can be installed to a home screen and works offline after the first load.
- Honest about limits. Some jobs are hard to do perfectly in a browser. Where a tool simplifies a document (for example PowerPoint to PDF, or compression turning pages into images), its page says so.
How the site is funded
Maher PDF is free. It is supported by advertising served by Google AdSense and by optional donations through Ko-fi. There are no paid tiers and no features held back behind a paywall.
